We have now since.. a very long time been running without whitelist. However we have had random players joining lately with suspicious behaviour. Some of the server's most active members have reported concern about this. This is very understandingly as some have put everything from countless hours to countless months into their creations on this server. And with that in mind it can seem very irresponsible to run this server without a whitelist.

However as mentioned before. We do have several systems in place to prevent griefing/hacking of this server. Of course no security is entirely waterproof and there are therefore also taken full server backups with somewhat random intervals but also around big events, after high player activity and before every major update.

This means, in the event of a new player joining and turns out to be a griefer. The most damage he can do is causing some mild annoyance. After he has blown up Fluffy_Bean's base and set a dark oak forest on fire, duped 3000+ diamonds. Hopefully reported by now. An admin will be able to with a few lines of command bann the unwanted player, and have every action specifically done by him become undone. In best case scenario an admin can perform this operation even without any downtime on the server. This server does not write 1-3 GB of log every day for no reason. - Well often it does. We have not gotten griefed or hacked in a very long time. Thanks to Fluffy_Bean himself who become server admin trainee late 2021. He has been so efficient at keeping the server in good shape that we never really have gotten to test out our shiny "it never happened" tools properly.

When all that is said, the whitelist goes on for now. As in the foreseeable future Fluffy will have less time to guard the server and Jeetix has gotten lazy but will hopefully get more time soon but no promises. The server will still run as before and be mentored now and then but at current phase where there can be moments of up to 48h without an admin online to use the power tools, it might be for the best.

1/3 of everything made on the server are made by random people on the internet that has jointed this community. I will try to fetch all their names and put it on the whitelist. But it is a bit sad to close the door for new potential members who don't bother to fill a form and wait for approval.

For those who are interested I will create a moderator team that will have semi admin abilities like whitelisting, ban, investigate crime scenes... etc. For those who are interested, please let me know. - @jeetix
